In recent years, the focus on sustainability and social impact has increased, companies through environmental programs and social practices have also begun to change their model in response to the demands of stakeholders and the market. A more sustainable approach is also driven by the 17 goals defined by UNESCO in the Sustainable Development Goals. The idea of sustainability derives directly from the concept of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), a real way of doing business in a strategic way, which consists in acting responsibly from a social and environmental point of view and in building solid and long-term relationships between companies and stakeholders, from the supplier to the final consumer. The "Mediterranean Commission for Sustainable Development" (MCSD) established in 1995 started the project "Sustainable development indicators" (SDI), which aims to develop indicators of progress towards sustainable development in the countries of Europe, Africa and Asia that face the Mediterranean, offering the great opportunity to compare developments in the process of integrating the environment into profoundly different national reality policies. Currently, the most widespread worldwide of all the SDI indicators is the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), established in 1999. The index is the first to assess the financial performance of global companies that follow sustainable principles. Unfortunately, all the studies conducted through the use of DJSI to evaluate the main sustainable firms do not consider the Sharia compliant market but are based only on the Dow Jones market. Therefore, there is no sustainability model that takes into account the companies that have had access to the Dow Jones Islamic Market. This Gap in literature and in practice does not allow us to confirm or contribute further to the use of the sustainability indicator with models that are particularly sensitive to the sharia compliant criteria. The statistical analysis has verified a difference between companies belonging to the Dow Jones Market and the Dow Jones Islamic Market model. This difference confirms the interest in testing the behaviour of the social and environmental sustainability index as well as the economic one even in companies belonging to the sharia-compliant market. The qualitative analysis of the models allows a possible future adoption in these markets based on scientific and literary evidence

Corruption is one of the main variables to be considered in corporate social responsi-bility (CSR) to guarantee the well-being of society in the long term. Information tech-nology (IT) is able to reduce this phenomenon of corruption. However, no practicalstudies highlight the real effect on health organisations. This study ascertains theimpact of a pilot project to prevent corruption and the introduction of new dedicatedtechnologies in the healthcare organisation. It uses the association of institutionaltheory, information and communications technology(ICT), and new technologies tocover the gap and highlight the effect of an anti-corruption pilot project of Interna-tional Transparency Italia in the healthcare sector. A longitudinal approach-basedinterventionist approach, coding of semi-structured open interviews and corporateanti-corruption plans using AltasIT from the 13 Health Organisations that joined thepilot project over a long term reveals that a positive effect spreads by mimeticapproach within organisations. The study has detected open-access databases, changes in personnel and procurement management approach, information dissemi-nation, citizen involvement and whistleblowing support change through technologies.More specifically, it examines the evolution of the anti-corruption system and thestakeholders' perceptions in healthcare organisations as a new form of social respon-sibility. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the only one that applies this per-spective to the analysis of the anti-corruption process through CSR currentlyunderway in healthcare institutions worldwid

Quality in healthcare is a constantly debated topic and has not found a clear definition to date. If we consider the possible quality standards related to health services, the Joint Commission identifies the main criteria that health organizations must respect in order to guarantee patient safety. The Joint Commission International \u2013 founded in 1994 by the JC \u2013 also accredits organizations in countries other than the USA and Canada to ensure better minimum quality levels. The study investigates the possibility of obtaining a better outcomes of the health structures accredited in Italy by the Joint Commission International compared to the other the other health organizations of the Italian system considering the mortality index as an indicator recognized by the literature as a summary indicator of outcome. The National Outcome Program (PNE) created by the Italian Ministry of Health allows comparative effectiveness researches based on relative risk. This study performs the analysis based on the results of the past three years available and on the volume of activities provided. Given a p-value significance index <0.05, the analysis highlights the absence of a significant difference between accredited and non-accredited structures. The study contributes to the literature on health system outcomes and performance and has relevance considering researches in health tourism and health mobility policies fields

Spin-Off and University Patents: Evaluation processes of the University of Turin

    Get PDF
Great attention has been given in recent years to the means of evaluating university spin-offs and their impact on the social and economic context. Nevertheless, in literature, there is not an approach that takes into account the different elements linked both to the value of the organization and to the effects that technology and innovation have on the context. The study starting from the analysis of the different methods of evaluation of university spin-offs and the immaterial value of the spin-off proposes an approach that brings together the different elements. The case study of the University of Turin (Italy) highlights the components and characteristics that must be analyzed and which confirm what has already been highlighted by the reference theory. The study offers an integrated approach that can be adopted in other Italian and foreign universities, and that accentuates the attention on the gaps that should be explored in future studies
